Anti aging facials, what’s the difference ?

An anti-aging facial will have all the steps of a basic facial, but with the added advantage of special equipment and ingredients that are targeted to aging or "mature" skin, which is usually age 40 and up. However it is advisable to start having regular facials from age 29 upwards as this is when collagen begins to breakdown and cellular turnover slowdowns.

The time it takes for healthy young cells to migrate to the topmost layer slow down, which makes skin duller looking. And with all the facial expressions we use the lines and wrinkles become deeper.

An anti-aging facial might include, radio frequency, skin needling, Ipl lasers,  photo facials and microdermabrasion. products may be a chemical peel, collagen masks, special serums that have antioxidants like vitamin C or ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which attracts water to cells) exfoliates and nourishes the skin to promote clear, well-hydrated skin. They are all called various things, but don’t be overwhelmed a good dermal therapist will do a consultation to understand what it is that bothers you and then they will advise you on the best treatments and products specifically for your skin.

The Basic Steps of an Anti-Aging Facial

  • Cleansing— An anti-aging facial begins with a cleansing. All facials begin with cleansing.

  • Skin Analysis—The therapist looks at your skin through a magnifying lamp or glasses that reveals various skin conditions such as dry skin, broken capillaries, age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles.

  • Exfoliation using a mechanical or chemical exfoliant—Mechanical exfoliation has a slight gritty texture and sometimes steam vapor is directed at your face. A chemical peel can be a stand-alone treatment or part of the facial. It is generally an upgrade.

  • Facial massage using classic strokes like effleurage to both relax you and stimulate your skin and facial muscles. Facial massage, stimulates the cells, brings oxygen to the surface and improves lymphatic drainage.

  • facial mask targeted to mature skin—The actual mask will depend on the line the clinic carries and what kind of facial you asked for.

  • Toners, eye cream, Moisturiser and protective creams are applied.

  • Home skin care advice is offered.

An anti-aging facial is more expensive than the basic facial because the tools and equipment they use are usually very expensive to buy and maintain, and the products they use are of a higher quality, usually with active ingredients to target the skin at a deeper level. It can range anywhere from $95 to $750, Prices will be lower at a day spa  or clinic, independently owned ones where the staff are highly trained are usually the best ones. Prices will be higher at destination spasresort and hotel spas, and medical spas.

How often should you get an anti-aging facial? Ideally, get a facial monthly to stimulate your skin's cellular turnover and assist with exfoliation. If your budget doesn't allow for that, have a facial at least four times a year, as the season changes. enemy just two a year, say before your birthday and before Christmas.

How Effective Are Anti-Aging Facials?

Anti-aging facials can be very effective, but it depends on the skill and experience of the dermal therapist, the quality of the products, and whether you carry through with a good home skin care regimen. Anti-aging facials and skin care products can also be more effective in conjunction with treatments like LED light, which boosts collagen.

Be careful about over-doing it and find someone whose advice and skill you trust. Some anti-aging products are too much for sensitive skin. Check out their level of training before you spend your time and money.
